Specifications of multihull rigging:
Multihulls are usually fitted with self-supported rigging which hold the mast with one forestay and two upper shrouds linked to the hulls with toggles. These self-supported masts consist of two groups:
1) Rotating masts, also called “teardrop masts”, or “wing-mast sections” (as on Formula 28 and 40) and 2) fixed masts. The latter are supported in various ways:
- Masts with tripods: the spreaders are linked on the front by a forward jumper which holds the mast laterally and longitudinally.
- Mid-range geometry: the mast is only supported laterally by the spreaders and large diameter shrouds (not self-supported, thus without forward jumper).
- Masts with additional rigging: without jumper on the front, or spreaders, but with lower shrouds and occasionally an inner stay.
The Charleston-Spar range fulfils the requirements of these different design geometries and is known for its reliability and performance. The Charleston-Spar multihull range is chosen by the best multihull builders in the world.
